When Love Becomes Action: How WUBAF Showed Up for the Dzakago Family

Sometimes, words are not enough. Sometimes, love must show up in action.

On the 30th and 31st of January, 2026. Wonadem UBA Foundation journeyed to Sogakope not just to attend a funeral, but to stand in oneness, compassion, and responsibility with Mr. and Mrs. Dzakago as they laid their beloved father to rest.

True to our motto—We Love, We Care, We Comfort—members from all parts of the country gathered to mourn with the bereaved, living out the timeless scripture: “Mourn with those who mourn.”

Preparations began early, with an advance team from the Catering Department arriving on Wednesday, led by Mrs. Celikem Akplor. By Friday, the Media Department had also joined to support the family and document the moments with dignity and respect. Every action taken followed the foundation’s principles and guidelines, reinforcing discipline and order throughout the program.

The funeral service itself was deeply solemn and reflective. As the body was conveyed to the church at about 9:10 a.m., hearts were heavy yet hopeful. The pastor’s tribute to the late father—especially his sacrifices and role in securing land for the church—reminded everyone that a life of service leaves footprints long after we are gone.

After the service, members gathered at the reception venue, shared a meal, and took time to familiarize and introduce themselves. In those moments, grief met fellowship, and strangers became family.

A heartfelt highlight of the day was the donation made by Mr. Suglo Sampson Koby to the foundation, received with gratitude by the Assistant General Overseer. The atmosphere later shifted as members took to the funeral grounds for a joyful borborbor session, celebrating life even in the midst of loss. The Sisterhood, in particular, brought color and energy with their impressive dance moves.

Behind the scenes and in the spotlight, every department delivered excellently. From catering to media, transport to music, teamwork was evident. By 5:00 p.m., the day’s activities came to a close—tiring, yet fulfilling.
