The Wonadem UBA Foundation (WUBAF) has continued its commitment to youth empowerment, education, and community development through the donation of jerseys and footballs to Akrofu Agorve M.A. Junior High School in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The donation exercise took place on May 14, 2026, and was facilitated by the Ho Zone team on behalf of the Foundation. The initiative formed part of WUBAF’s mission to support schools, encourage sports development, and inspire students to combine academics with extracurricular activities for holistic growth.

The delegation arrived at the school at exactly 9:45 a.m., where preparations were already underway to receive the team and invited guests. By 10:11 a.m., the school grounds had been arranged, and the team received an official welcome from the school community.

The event was officially called to order at 10:15 a.m. by the Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Vincent Datsomor and Ms. Caroline Agbolosoo. The opening prayer was led by Rev. Abraham Tsakpo.

During the introductory session, Mr. Vincent Datsomor introduced the staff and invited guests, while the Headteacher introduced the Foundation to students and attendees. As the Zone Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ms. Caroline Agbolosoo presented the mission, vision, and core values of WUBAF, emphasizing the Foundation’s dedication to humanitarian service, youth empowerment, and community transformation.

Madam Charity Dzah, the PTA Chairperson, was introduced and accepted the responsibility of chairing the occasion. Mr. Bright Letsu also briefed the gathering on the purpose of the visit and explained the reasons behind the Foundation’s decision to donate the sports equipment to the school.

The keynote remarks were delivered by Ms. Bernice Achea on behalf of the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WUBAF, Edem Edem Michael Forgive UBA Akpeleasi, popularly known as SIR UBA. In her address, she encouraged students, teachers, and community members to work together towards building a brighter future for the school and the community at large.

Her speech was briefly paused to warmly welcome the arrival of the Chiefs and elders of the community, whose presence added significance and honor to the occasion.

At the request of the Headteacher, the presentation of the items was officially carried out through the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO), Madam Mary Ama Entwi, together with the Chiefs. The jerseys and footballs were formally handed over to support sporting activities within the school.

Speaking on behalf of the school, the SISO expressed sincere appreciation to WUBAF and assured the Foundation that the donated items would be properly used to support the school and enhance participation in sporting competitions within the zone.

Headmaster Mr. Ernest Nah also thanked Mr. Vincent Datsomor for facilitating the opportunity. He proudly noted that he once taught SIR UBA and encouraged individuals and organizations to emulate such acts of generosity in supporting schools and communities.

The Chiefs and elders equally expressed their gratitude to the Foundation for the thoughtful gesture. They advised students to take proper care of the items and encouraged them to balance academic excellence with active participation in sports, emphasizing that sports has become a respected and rewarding career path.

In her closing remarks, Chairperson Madam Charity Dzah encouraged students to remain disciplined, respectful, and hardworking. She thanked the Foundation for choosing the school and stated that the blessing came as a result of the good behavior and commitment demonstrated through Mr. Vincent Datsomor. She further urged students to respect their teachers and elders, study diligently, and grow into responsible individuals who would positively impact society and the nation.

The event officially came to an end at 11:40 a.m. with a vote of thanks delivered by the School Prefect, Ms. Angel Kpah, followed by a closing prayer by Rev. Abraham Tsakpo.

A memorable group photograph session followed, capturing teachers, students, Chiefs, guests, and members of the Foundation proudly dressed in the newly donated jerseys. The Media and PRO departments also conducted short interviews after the ceremony.

As a sign of appreciation, the school presented coconuts to the delegation for refreshment before their departure. The team left the school premises at 11:55 a.m. and arrived in Ho around 12:40 p.m. After a brief stop for refreshments at Rabazy Spot, members safely returned to their respective homes.

The Ho Zone team expressed gratitude to God for His protection and guidance throughout the outreach exercise and also thanked SIR UBA and the entire WUBAF leadership for the opportunity to represent the Foundation and successfully carry out the assignment.

This donation once again reflects the unwavering commitment of WUBAF towards empowering young people, supporting education, strengthening communities, and building meaningful relationships that inspire hope and development across Ghana.
